Die Erhebung „Stoffstrombild Kunststoffe in Deutschland“ liefert seit 1994 ein umfassendes Bild zu Produktion, Verarbeitung, Verbrauch, Abfallaufkommen und Verwertung von Kunststoffen. Auch für das Jahr 2021 ist die Nachfrage nach Kunststoffen ungebrochen. Dabei blieben die Mengen bei Kunststoffproduktion und Kunststoffverarbeitung im Vergleich zu der vorherigen Erhebung stabil. Kunststoffrecycling und Einsatz von Kunststoffrezyklaten haben sich als wesentlicher Bestandteil der Kunststoffbranche und der Rohstoffversorgung etabliert.
